Kingston, Ontario
Our service area includes the Thousand Islands Kingston Ontario. I have to admit that Kingston is my favorite city.
The setting and the people are amazing. I remember my first visit and the impression it left. We came by boat and stayed at the Confederation Basin for a long weekend getaway. I was struck by the beauty this city holds. The city has a fantastic setting in the Thousand Islands. It's architecture is historic and stunning. It's community warm, friendly and incredibly welcoming. I think Kingston can be summed up with a story about the first nights stay.
We had spent the day visiting shops, enjoying the parks and having dinner at the Kingston Brewery. Our plan was to spend the rest of the night just enjoying what Kingston has to offer. We came across the outdoor theater just as the night was setting in. People were starting to gather, bringing their families, chairs and blankets. I thought, well this is curious... It turned out they were playing an evening movie, Edward Scissorhands. In the middle of a city, they were playing a movie, outdoors, free.
We spent the rest of the evening watching a movie. Edward Scissorhands. Outdoors, with dozens, maybe a hundred or more people.
There are not many communities that can have such an event these days but Kingston can, and does.
